Basses

Jaydee Series III (Mark King Model)

My first bass, nice warm sound and great for slap. Signed by Mark on the front and lacquered by John Diggins in Birmingham.

Alembic Series I

Never played this bass live but has again got a fantastic sound. It’s very easy to play as the strings are very close to the fretboard but it weighs an absolute ton! I bought the bass in 1998. It appears on a couple of Level 42 videos, the Leaving Me Now single and the Fait Accompli documentary. I had the good fortune to ask MK to sign this guitar. (see gallery)

Status Series 2000

Fitted with Green Sims Custom LEDs. Of all the basses I have, I always revert to using this one. It was made in 1989 and was until recently my main stage bass. It was also the cheapest purchase of all my basses.

Status Kingbass Black Beauty

The most recent addition to my collection. This bass is now my main stage bass. It has red LEDs and a custom shaped neck. Absolutely fantastic.

Fender Mark King Signature Jazz

Fender Mark King Signature Jazz fitted with Blue Sims Custom LEDs – Nice thin neck and great sound. These basses are quite rare as only 42 where ever made. This has the serial number “42” which makes it even rarer. This bass was also signed by Mark (see gallery).

Amplification

Ashdown Engineering MK500

In my opinion the best amp around. The graphic lets you shape your sound as you like it.

Ashdown Superfly

Powerful digital amp, great for the studio or on the road.
